Killer Instinct is going to be one of Xbox One’s premiere online experiences when it launches alongside the console on November, yet there hasn’t really been much information on what will be offered in the game’s online modes. Thankfully, during last Thursday’s KI stream, there was some answers provided on the title’s online gameplay.

For starters, there will not be a team mode. Double Helix is very insistent on keeping the game with one-on-one match-ups. Secondly, there will be a spectator mode that will allow you to watch others play the game online. And third, every single fight is saved via Xbox One’s built-in Game DVR. You, however, get to decide which fights you want to keep. Additionally, you can also edit te fights, transition them, narrate them and other yet-to-be announced things.

I’d say Double Helix and Microsoft has all of their bases covered thus far for when this game launches next month, wouldn’t you? Only six weeks left!

  1. This ain’t marvel vs capcom, so sick of fighters with teams. Mk9 was fine but the whole team moves and switching between characters is a stupid concept in my opinion. This game needs to stay unique and not turn into mvc3 with all the gimmicky crap. Counterbreakers and shadow meters great, no teams and no more characters that are similar to jago at all (not that there are) street fighter did that to death with the many ken and ryu clones. Also, looking forward to the arcade port. Interesting idea to have a hd version, but then again isn’t that basically KI3? Definitely need online though quick, some fighters won’t be in season one so I’ll have to use them in classic KI for now.

    1. Bear in mind guys that they could always add these things in later on down the road if the community really pushed for it. Plus, there is only six characters at launch and eight total for this season–there really is no need for a team mode at this time anyway with so few characters.

      1. Nobody said that they wouldn’t. Just making a suggestion because as of now I have not heard any mention of adding that feature. They have already announced other things that aren’t available now but will be in the future.
