Earlier today, Microsoft creative director Adam Isgreen confirmed on Twitter that the entire old roster of Killer Instinct characters- Classic KI/KI 2/Gold–will not be returning for Season Two.
Adam: More new chars this season than last. Not all old ones will be returning in S2.
With TJ Combo and Maya already announced, that leaves Cinder, Riptor, Tusk, Kim Wu, Eyedol and Gargos that may not make it into KI’s second season. As Adam also mentioned in the quote above, we will be receiving more new characters instead.

Well I’m actually fine with this. The only character I never cared for was Tusk. I remember them saying a long time ago that neither Eyedol or Gargos were returning, which is fine with me. I didn’t like those character designs. I think we can count on Cinder making into Season 2 due to the ending at the T J Combo trailer. I think they will treat him the same as they did Fulgore in Season 1. He’ll probably be the last character that is released, and that probably wont be until sometime early 2015. I’m excited to see some new characters added to the mix. I think Sadira was a great addition to the roster. Yes, she needs some tweaking but she is a good fit. With this game having everything from an Ice Alien, a Werewolf, a Tibetan Ninja, a Boxer, and a Spider Woman the gates are wide open. I cant wait to see the zany new character and archetypes that they can come up with. Maya already sounds really cool, and I cant wait to see a game play trailer. I would love to see Riptor and Kim Wu make it back this season too. I’m thinking that the character who is only 5’4 in height is a new character, as is the character that is 3500 years old. Riptor would be millions of years old I would think, unless they’ve done something odd with her story line.
It’s either Kim Wu or newcomer. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if either Cinder or Riptor didn’t make it but I believe one of them will be saved for season 3. I think well get 2 more returning characters and 4 new ones.
Riptor would be fairly young actually. Remember it’s a genetically-engineered creature, born in a lab, not an actual dinosaur from the past. In the original KI, Riptor was only 4 years old.
The character who is 5’4″ is very likely Kim Wu. As for the roster, were going to get Combo in September, Maya in October, Newcomer in November. They are going to be releasing the characters once a month until 2015 but they’ll probably take December off for Christmas time so they’ll probably all be released in May and Season 3 will start in September.
Some of you have to remember when they said they weren’t bringing back eyedol and gargos, so maybe all the non-boss characters have to be the ones making a return hopefully

Nope they meant one of the non bosses. Microsoft reiterated that all 13 fighters would return by season 3 and that’s excluding the bosses so it definitely means that were not going to see all 13 characters. I think only 1-2 will be excluded we may have 3-4 but I highly doubt it.
Well as long as they all come back eventually, that’s fine. Saving some for a third season is a smart choice, as it ensures the game gets a third season by keeping veterans engaged waiting for their favorite characters to return. Players that are new to KI may not play the same vital role as vets in this regard. And by the end of Season 3 we’ll have the full original cast plus almost the same number of new characters, which is awesome (assuming they’ll give us another 8 characters in S3). So, keeping the game alive is what matters. More interest = more seasons = more characters. Give us all we “want” now and then people may lose interest sooner, which will dictate the end of the game.

Its safe to say that they are more than likely only talking about Eyedol and Gargos and fan favorites such as Cinder and Riptor are bound to return. However they may be later dlc characters like Spinal and Fulgore to maintain hype.
I’m OK with it, as long as Cinder and Riptor make it in this season. The rest can come later in a third season (which I am counting on!). And new characters is a good thing I’m looking forward to.
To be honest I’m not BEST pleased by this news.

If you ask me 2 / 3 new charicters is perfect for KI. I think season two should tie up all killer instinct ends it should complete ki1 ad ki2. Coming from a history of canceled products and years of waiting for a 3rd or a reboot I must say I don’t want to rely on a sea on 3 to complete this long awaited chapter.
Although I wouldn’t be too bothered about tusk I can still see his worth within the cast and as mayas love interest / gardien
For me if kim wu riptor and Cinder don’t make this game it will be a big big shame.

It’s simple really. It’s because IG knows if they don’t have all the KI1&2 characters fans will stick around for season 3. Such a deceitful way to let down fans!
It’s definitely Eyedol and Gargos however, I think probably Tusk will be left out since he wasn’t mentioned in the text stream if they weren’t referring to the bosses. I say we petition to Microsoft to have all KI characters return.
Unless they’ve confirmed/talks about S3, Riptor and Cinder are confirmed. Tusk and Kim would be the two leave outs
I was looking forword to the old cast but if there doing 4 each it makes sance lets see 2 ki 1 and 2 ki2 characters makes sance that why it leave 2 ki 1 and 2 ki 2 characters for season 3 i just hope some the new characters come from the comic and if billy tagas and nox becomes real i will go mental with exsitment
As much as I want to see ALL the remaining original KI characters return for Season 2, at the same time I now DON’T mind at all to see all-new KI characters be reveal and introduce in the Season 2 roster. Also though, again, I want to see ALL the rest of the original KI characters come back for Season 2 but NOW I can’t wait to see these all-new KI characters be finally reveal and shown in the Season 2 roster 🙂
I’m ok with this news *ONLY* if there will indeed be a season 3 because that would leave an opening for Cinder, Riptor, Kim Wu, and Gargos to return. If that is not the case we all got a half assed Killer Instinct game

You know what I kinda agree…. I think we need kim wu tho.. she’s a female jago in play style and the female charicters need representing.
Also I want to see riptor vs saber wulf fights. It always had a touch of primal rage about them matches.
Riptor is a must have could of done without T.J. didnt like him in the originals and pretty sure not gnna use him in this one just seems to me to b another button mash character Cinder is a must and Kim Wu is more than welcome but the main point is listen to the people who actually play the game and invest there money not some lame ass development team POINNT MADE

My money is they’ll have four returning and four new characters. For the sake of the fandom, Riptor and Cinder need to be in the game. If one of them is missing it’ll be a travesty, and I have no interest in either of those characters. We’ll get Aria as a new one, and leave the rest of KI2’s roster for season 3. Hopefully, Shadow Jago isn’t one of our 8 for this year.
Don’t worry, Shadow Jago is actually an EXTRA character and so NOT part of the 8 characters in and for the Season 2 roster
I would love to see more new characters, but Cinder and Riptor should be in the mix. Still waiting for Shadow Jago own move list and ULTIMATES!

Is anyone really surprised by this? Cinder is all buy confirmed, with the tease in TJ Combo’s video. And Eyedol/Gargos……I could do without. So I’m hoping for Riptor over Kim Wu over Tusk.
They should just give us back all the originals and for season 3 drop new characters no matter how u put it the characters will not play the same from the original games, hence we are receiving new characters either way. I’m a killer instinct fan and would like to see the entire staff back. I’m pretty sure they would be original to their roots anyway. If they just skip to putting new characters in the game I’d personally think the designers and developers to be a bit lazy if you ask me. It’s the only fighting game out on next gen consoles and it’s only right to just put out everyone. bad enough we gotta wait after combo comes out for the remaining cast so give us something worth waiting for. no matter if your gonna release new characters or keep them brand new and original.

Here is my description about new fighters that should be based on The Evolvling of Killer Instict of Kevin Bayliss: 2nd new character has to snail-like fighter bears resemblance Blanka from Street Fighter, the name is Mollusca, and 3rd will be another quicky fighter who have bags of lost souls sewn together with hate; the name is VUDU or PitCushion,
The only new character from ki2 that I liked was Maya and she’s in the game so ki2 characters are good as far as I’m concerned, didn’t care for Kim wu but I think she’ll make it because they talked about her in the text stream. I have a feeling that tusk won’t make it and they already confirmed the bosses are a no go. Cinder and riptor (riptor most) if both of them don’t make season 2 then the hell with season 2!! I don’t want to have to wait another year for my two favorite characters, we know that tease in combos trailer was cinder, ooooo I swear if riptor doesn’t make it!! Ki2 characters weren’t as interesting as ki1 characters so any of them I could care less about, just bring riptor and cinder back. Forget tusk and Kim wu, that way we have 4 new,3 from ki1, and 1 from ki2. Or 3 new and 2 from ki2.
I just think they should keep in mind that other fighters like ultra street fighter 4, blaz blue, guilty gears and even mortal kombat all have impressive large character rosters that add much needed replatability. But.im sure they are doing this to further release more seasons.

If memory serves me right, someone at Microsoft ruled out Eyedol and Gargos for the new game, so that essentially eliminates them from contention. I don’t really see Tusk coming back, since he was more or less created as a Thunder stand-in for the second game; that, and thematically-speaking, Maya fills the jungle warrior role much better. So that just leaves Cinder, Riptor and Kim-Wu to return, with three original characters making their debut to round out season two.
As long as cinder and tiptoe makes it I will be fine

Well, we already knew that. I think that Tusk and maybe Riptor will return with Season 3. I mean, if all characters return in Season 2, what they will do with Season 3?

We know for certain that TJ Combo and Maya will occupy 2 of the 8 character slots, so 6 more characters to be developed. Will there be Aria as the Boss for Season 2? Probably- 5 left. Cinder and Kim Wu have been hinted, that leaves 3 to go. Eyedol and Gargos are out, so that leaves Tusk and Riptor. Riptor is a shoe-in because of all the requests for her return. Will Tusk and a new character, or 2 new characters, round out Season 2?
Current characters include a Robot Assassin Fulgore, Werewolf Sabrewulf, Ghost Pirate Spinal, Hottie Rebel Orchid, Indian Warrior Thunder, Ice Alien Glacius, Spider Woman Sadira, and Karate kid Jago, Boxer TJ Combo, Amazon Monster Slayer Maya,Fire Man Cinder, Kung Fu Kim Wu, and Super Lizard Riptor, what other characters could they develop?
To draw from history, they could have a Gothic Barbarian, Spartan Defender, Viking Marauder, Mongol Soldier, Cave Man Spear Chucker.
Greek or Roman gods or creatures, wizard or necromancer, Balrog . Mech Warrior from the future, Predator or Alien type creatures from outer-space. Anyone have other ideas?
I say be prepared for anything. But I believe ARIA is going to count as a 9th character for boss. I mean we got Maya out of all KI2 characters for crying out loud! The most popular was Tusk of the new comers IMO.
