Highlights From Play XBLA January 31st, 2014

Spinal released and a stream?! Big day for Killer Instinct. In case you missed the stream or can’t watch it we have some of the highlights below.

• Aware of some of the challenges that people are facing after the update and looking into them
• Showed off new Classic Sabrewulf and Classic Glacius skins and accessories released today that you can check out here
• Double Helix puts in about 4 months to create a character from concept art to finished product that is playable
• Double Helix is working on at least 3 characters at the same time
• Story Mode is coming with Fulgore’s release slated for March
• Unsure if all Classic costumes will be released by the time Fulgore is released. Leaning towards no
• There will probably not be a 4 player simultaneously on screen at once game type
• There will be something at the end of the Fulgore reveal trailer but not specifically a new character tease
• Actively working on lobbies and will be released as soon as they are finished and ready
• Aware of freezing issue with Spinal teleport and looking into fixing it
• Single player rank decrease could be based on percentage rank and Spinal being added would lower your original percent of fight titles complete
• There is an artifact that Spinal is in search of in the Story Mode
• Lots of high concurrent number of players playing Killer Instinct
• Story Mode not like Mortal Combat
• Story Mode once released will continually be enhanced and work on
• Little refinements like when you go back to character select after a match your character you used is already selected
• If there was an Eagle he could have lots of moves that didn’t make it into Thunder
• New characters probably will not have the same properties of existing Instinct Modes
• Perhaps more customizable options for character animations before, after and even during the matches
• Plans in place for a long content stream. Double Helix wants to keep on creating content for Killer Instinct
• There will most likely not be a create your own fighter like Soul Caliber
• If and when Season 2 starts not all characters will be available at once
• Working on tournaments separate from lobbies. Not a for sure thing but would be a cool thing to add
• Only characters that Double Helix is hesitant to bring back are boss characters
• Rebooting canon of Killer Instinct Story mode
• Holiday customs for characters could be a possibility in the future
• Customs in the art book that have not been implemented yet could still be released
