There have been many, many reports over the last few weeks of Killer Instinct Xbox One players losing their save data. While there could be a number of situations causing the data to be lost, one player has informed us of one way that will certainly delete most of your progress without fail: swapping regions with Killer Instinct loaded.
As you may (or may not) be aware, it’s entirely possible to change the region of your Xbox One to another country. According to Slender Man via Facebook after multiple tests, loading Killer Instinct before having swapped back to your own region will result in the loss of em>all of your hard earned KP, Fight Titles, Ranked wins, and so forth. The only thing that apparently remains intact is the players Dojo progress. But everything else? Gone and unrecoverable.
I labeled this post as a rumor for now until more potential reports come in suggesting a similar scenario. I’ve no reason to doubt Slender Man, so be advised to not under any circumstances load Killer Instinct without the Xbox One being in your own region. And even then, do not swap regions with the game loaded. In doing so, you risk losing everything you’ve worked hard to earn.

I’ve been following this issue ever since I completely lost my save data right after the last update and have never heard anything about changing the region being the issue. From what I understand there is a glitch when switching controllers when playing local 2 player which is what happened to me. I was a level 13 offline with almost everything in the game unlocked when me and a buddy were playing and when we went to select our characters, poof! Completely lost everything I had worked countless hours for like that. Level 01 and everything in the game locked. after a couple days of losing my shit I decided to start over unlocking everything. I’m playing single player, offline, by myself…and my shit just disappears!! …AGAIN!!! Anyone playing this game, WAIT TILL THEY FIX THIS BEFORE PLAYING!!! There is no excuse for this DH!
Nope. Happened to me while I was playing local versus with my son. Game crashed when we both chose “select new character.” When I started the game back up, everything was reset.
