In an upcoming issue of Official Xbox Magazine (OXM), Phil Spencer praises Nintendo and their first party studios and IP. He also briefly mentions Rare and their history with Killer Instinct. Here is what he had to say…
“Nintendo, I think – and there’s some argument about this – that their first-party is such an amazing asset. Their first party studios and IP can lead what they do as a company and the platforms are almost in service to the IP – not in a bad way.
“They have such iconic stories and this will seem somewhat random, but when we go back and do something like Killer Instinct, a little bit of the history of your franchise can actually be important part of people feeling connected. Obviously the history of Killer Instinct isn’t a history on Xbox, but it’s Rare’s history and I think the reaction when we announced it on-stage at E3 showed that playing to the people’s heart, I think Nintendo does that as well as anybody in terms of hitting the franchises and having huge success with them.”

There’s an “argument” that Nintendo’s 1st-party library is an asset? o_O…………really?

Banjo

Killerinstinct
Are all like AAA for me and console sellers.
Everybody we’re thinking in a Killer Instinct for Nintendo, Why not include in Wii U…
There would be no advantage to Microsoft to allow Killer Instinct on the Wii U. A major reason why as many XBOX One’s have sold is because of KI. If Microsoft allowed Double-Helix to outsource KI to rival platforms that would cause a huge blow to their console sales.
Granted, Killer Instinct truly belongs on a Nintendo console and it really sucks that we have to play it on a non-Nintendo console, but unless Nintendo buys Rare back from Microsoft somehow or if Rare buys itself out and goes 3rd party, KI is on the XBOX One to stay.
Glad to hear u praising as well as mentioning the new Killer Instinct Mr. Phil Spencer
