Did you know that the SNES version of Killer Instinct contains a direct parody to Capcom’s Street Fighter II? No, I’m not referring to the similarities between Jago and Ryu, but something a bit more obscure and yet seemingly obvious to anyone who played enough of both iconic fighting games. So what, then, is this parody that I speak of? It’s the ending for Eyedol, Killer Instinct’s final boss that few people have probably ever played as. Let’s have a look at his ending in the video below:

Now here is the Blanka’s ending in Street Fighter II:

See the similarities? Why Rare chose to parody Street Fighter and this particular ending isn’t really known, but one could surmise they were likely fans of the game and wanted to pay tribute. So did you know about this parody or is this your first time hearing of it? Leave a comment below and let me know!

  1. I saw this a long time ago. But, just now realized the “Billy Eyedol” part. Hilarious!

  2. Not only that, they even seem to throw a name pun there as well: Billy Eyedol (get it?)

  3. Oh yeah, I knew about this parody for a while now and at least the ending for Blanka in Street Fighter 2 was a HAPPY one

  4. I knew about Eyedol’s ending, but I only recently learned that it was a parody of Blanka’s ending; literally, I learned about it a month before this post! I now appreciate the humor behind Eyedol’s ending now that I’ve seen Blanka’s ending!
